National Center for Rheumatic Diseases (NCRD) is the first specialized clinic in Nepal dealing with diagnosis and management of Rheumatic diseases which includes conditions affecting joints and connective tissues, auto-immune diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gout, Lupus, Scleroderma and other degenerative diseases like Osteoarthritis and Ankylosing spondylitis.
Rheumatic diseases, generally known as Arthritis, is not a single disease; there are more than 100 diverse types of arthritis and related conditions that not only affect joints but may also impact various other body parts like heart, lungs, eyes and kidneys. Although Rheumatic diseases are not considered life threatening, when it hits the organs it can take lives if left unmanaged or make life miserable with one or more major disability.
Because Rheumatic diseases may involve several different combinations of organs and systems in the human body depending upon the specific condition, effective management of a patient requires a multidisciplinary care customized to the need of each patient. And since the disease may need a long-term care, emotional support and motivational counselling are also essential at times. NCRD is well-equipped to do just that.
We have put together all facets of arthritis patient care under one roof at an affordable price starting from disease diagnosis and management to sustainable long-term care. NCRD offers full-fledged diagnostic facilities for rheumatic diseases. Our laboratory services provide all required investigative tests that not only include a well-equipped path-lab and radiology services but also offer specialized examinations like 18 Antigen ENA Panel and Nailfold Capillaroscopy which were started by NCRD first time in Nepal and by far unavailable elsewhere in the country. These are some of the latest new tests critically important and cost-effective to pin point specific rheumatic disease type like SLE, MCTD, Scleroderma and others. The expert team of clinical colleagues and trained staff working together to handle unique requirements of each case include best in class Rheumatologist, Neurologist, Nephrologist, Neuropsychiatrist, Dermatologist, Orthopedic surgeon, Physiotherapist as well as professional nutrition and diet specialist. The premises also house Jiwanta Pharmacy where all necessary medicines and medical equipment are made available.
NCRD has successfully established branches in four major cities of Nepal, namely Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Pokhara and aspires to reach many more places in the country. We use various modes of patient care services like outpatient care, day care and free outdoor health camps. The management team uses DMAIC model of Six Sigma process improvement technique to identify methodology induced failures and to work towards correcting those.
