Special message to " Patient under Gout medication also commonly known as Uric Acid " !!!

Dr. Manisha Bhochhibhoya

This dashain if you do not want to have joint pain and swelling, do avoid excessive intake of carbonated or sugar containing drinks. Not only protein but sugary food items like “sodas”, mothering sweets aka ” mithais” , ” chilled beer”, ” artificial preserved fruit juices ” might trigger gout attack . No need to advise to stick to the smaller portion size while consuming red meat and alcohol.
What about other patients? Is it necessary to take precautions while having food ??
Yes , of course!
To reduce inflammation, limit sugar and ultra-processed foods, as they tend to be high in unhealthy trans fats. To avoid excessive weight gain during the festival season, it is better to avoid deep fried food , fat containing meat items, larger portion of carbohydrates like rice and ” chiura”.
Normal daily routine of having food should not be disturbed.Eating too much whole day or eating at odd time than routine might disturb the digestive system .
This might result in gastritis, acid reflux constipation or diarrhea which might trigger inflammation.
Myths like ” dashain ma ta masu matra khanu parcha” should be changed to ” masu sangai green leafy veggies and seasonal fresh fruits ni khanu parcha !”
Most important alcohol intake and smoking should be avoided. In fact , patient should avoid the environment where other people might be smoking cigarettes because passive smoking might trigger inflammation.
Most important, do not forget to take regular medication in the hushustle and bustle of Dashain .
